How It Works

The electrical activity in the human brain alters between four different states. In the state of Full Conscious Awareness we are lucid and capable of analytical judgment and assessment. In the Dream State we are obviously asleep and having dreams, so the subconscious mind is in full control. In the Sleep State we are so soundly asleep that we do not even dream. Then there is the Hypnotic State, which is perhaps the most interesting of all.

When the human brain is in a Hypnotic State both the unconscious and conscious mind are operating simultaneously so that the individual is in what can be described as a trance. This trance like state can be compared to being completely engrossed in a television show. With hypnosis hypnotherapy the hypnotherapist induces a trance like state in the client. While the client is in a trance he or she is more open to suggestions because the conscious mind does not attempt to appraise them. During a hypnosis hypnotherapy session the hypnotherapist makes positive suggestions to direct the client towards their chosen objective.

Results Vary

Will hypnosis hypnotherapy work for you? The answer to that question largely depends on your personality. Hypnosis hypnotherapy works better on open-minded people who make decisions based on their emotions and find it easy to trust others. Conversely the procedure is generally far less successful when the client is a person who is skeptical, hard-headed, rational and suspicious of the motives of others.

Finding A Good Hypnotherapist

If you are interested in undergoing hypnosis hypnotherapy in order to overcome a problem or stop a specific negative behavior pattern, choose your hypnotherapist with caution. Make sure that the hypnotherapist you work with has a state license and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. It is also important to pick a hypnotherapist you feel it is easy to communicate openly with. It is very difficult to give power over your unconscious mind to an individual you neither trust nor like.
