What Can You Do When You Can Not Stop Smoking

If you are a smoker, have you ever seriously tried to quit? If you still are a smoker, evidently your attempt was not successful. Quitting smoking can be one of the hardest and most stressful things a person can try to do. Many times people smoke to cope with stress and since trying to stop smoking is so stressful, the odds of doing it successfully are pretty slim. Sometimes people want to stop smoking so desperately that they will try every product that comes on the market and every crack pot scheme they hear of in hopes that something will finally work for them.

Hypnotism has been tried by many smokers and while there have been some success stories, there has probably been more failures overall. Of course, there are all of those nicotine products that do have some success rates as well, but even they are far from foolproof. They are also quit expensive if you are not able to stop fairly quickly. Then there are the prescription medications in the pill form, but these can be loaded with side affects that can even promote suicide attempts in some however rare that might be. They can not really be recommended for use by those that might already suffer from depression, anxiety, or other mood related ailments.

So, what can you do when you have tried some of these things, but might not be brave enough or desperate enough to try the others? Most people just continue to smoke and hope that the consequences of smoking tobacco cigarettes loaded with thousands of chemicals will be kinder to them than they have been to most long time smokers. That, of course, is just wishful thinking because smoking tobacco will take its toll in some way on everyone that does it long enough. It is not a matter of will it affect you negatively, but when and how severely.

When you smoke tobacco cigarettes, what your body craves really is the nicotine. The tar that is produced by them is one of the things that are deadly about them. It coats your lungs with a sticky residue that remains there for a long time and continues to build the longer you smoke. The chemicals cause cancer and other ailments such as bronchitis and the coughing and wheezing it brings. The smoke you inhale while using tobacco cigarettes can cause sinus problems too. Sometimes they can be severe and constant because you continue to smoke.

There is a new product on the market called an electronic cigarette. It looks, tastes, and provide a sensation very similar to a traditional smoke. There are differences that are significant. This product is used similarly to a traditional version only there is no actual smoke. It expels water vapor when you When you inhale. It has no tar and very few additives. They could be an alternative for smokers who have given up trying to quit or for those who simply do not want to quit.
